According to CNN , Kelly Craft and her husband, billionaire coal mining Joe Craft, are major Republican sponsors. In the 2016 presidential election, they supported Florida Senator Marco Rubio to become Republican presidential candidate before moving to support Mr. Trump.
In 2017, President Trump nominated Mrs. Craft to be an ambassador to Canada, the position she officially took over in October 2017.
If she were to become the new US ambassador to the United Nations, the new position would make Ms. Craft dragged closer to international post-negotiations – which would directly affect her husband’s business interests. In the first interview on Canadian television earlier, Ms. Craft was questioned about the view that President Trump withdrew from the Paris agreement on climate change. She answered that it is important to listen to both sides of the problem.
President Trump’s initial choice to replace Haley, US State Department spokesman Heather Nauert, was disqualified after being told that she hired a nanny working illegally in the United States to be discovered.
