The new support page on Microsoft’s website shows that the company will remove support for Microsoft Edge ePub file format, at some point in the future.
According to Neowin, earlier this year, Microsoft officially removed the Books section from Microsoft Store, making it impossible for users to buy new books and even read existing books after July. This forces users to find a platform. another to buy books as well as read them with Edge browser with support for ePub file format.
But this will no longer once Microsoft Edge officially stops supporting the epub file format as recently noted. In the latest validation, Microsoft itself admitted that ending support for this feature will come when the Chromium-based Edge version is released. Because Edge’s UWP version is still available in Windows 10, users can read ePub eBooks in Edge longer.
When the time to stop ePub support on Edge browser occurs, users of Windows 10 computers can also find some applications that read this book on Microsoft Store. Microsoft said it has worked with DAISY Consortium to compile a list of applications that support e-book reading and those applications will be available through Microsoft Store since September.
