The Japanese government issued a so-called “note for carriers” mobile network on the consideration of security risks. The move comes as the government allows telecom companies to use new frequencies for high-speed 5G networks.
According to experts, this guide aims to ensure that Japanese mobile operators do not use Chinese telecommunications equipment for their new network.
The Ministry of Information is expected to introduce a 5G network frequency regulation in March 2019.
The guide emphasizes the importance of security and reliability in the preparation of new networks as well as the procurement of equipment.
Group 4 companies, including NTT DoCoMo, KDDI, SoftBank and Rakuten, are expected to use 5G networks. The companies said they would follow the guidelines when looking for equipment.
